8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medications have actually been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A male was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.
He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.
The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Group.
Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.
"These types of items being offered, usually online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.
"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this might have on your health."
